    TranS1 - CEO

    After acquiring over 50 patent and trademark assets of NASDAQ-traded company TranS1 following its failed merger, Jeff contributed over 25 additional patent and trademark filings. As the CEO for several years, Jeff led the spinal implant maker TranS1 to its first cash flow positive operations, and ultimately, an eight figure exit.

    Rocky Mountain Patent - Founder

    Originally the founder of prominent Denver patent law firm Rocky Mountain Patent, he merged the practice with a major national law firm in 2018 following his successful exit in a separate medical device firm. Jeff led the ventures growth practice for the national firm for several years before returning to solo practice with Schell IP and leading and advising other ventures.

    Jeff continues to regularly serve as an advisor and teacher to many leading organizations and their members throughout Colorado and beyond. He is a lecturer and has taught classes at the bioentrepreneurship program within the University of Colorado’s medical school.

After acquiring over 50 patent and trademark assets, and contributing over 25 additional patent and trademark filings, Jeff Schell led spinal implant maker TranS1 to an eight figure exit. Within a few years of rebuilding TranS1 as CEO, ColoradoBiz Magazine named TranS1 one of the top 250 companies in Colorado by revenue. Under Jeff’s leadership, Orthopedics This Week awarded TranS1 the 2017 Spine Technology Award.


After obtaining several key patents related to women's health testing, Jeff Schell guided Proov through millions of dollars in revenues and a Series A round at a ~$40MM post money-valuation. As Managing Director of Proov, Jeff played a material role in evolving its underlying tech into multiple patent pending products and an emerging brand in women’s health – and he continues to play a leadership role. Proov has been featured in Forbes and won the “Best Family Tech at CES” award given by Parents Magazine.
